“I photograph people.”

Photographer portrait, black and white, studio - Alexandros Aidonis

I started in a darkroom. 2005, black-and-white film, Ionian University. The moment the image appeared on the paper I understood what I wanted to do.

What I do now is simpler than it sounds: I put someone in front of my camera and I wait. Not for a pose but for the moment the pose drops. That's the photograph.

I work in Ioannina, mostly in a single space I've been using long enough to know exactly what the light does there at every hour. Consistency matters to me. So does silence during a session.

My subjects are usually people who do something with their hands or their voice. Αctors, musicians, craftspeople. People whose work lives in their face if you give it time to surface.

If that sounds like what you're looking for, get in touch.

  • Most sessions run between one and two hours. That's enough time to warm up, slow down, and get to something real.

  • I work in a dedicated space in Ioannina, and occasionally on location when the brief calls for it. We discuss this before we book.

  • Through a private online gallery, usually within two to three weeks. You choose what you keep.

  • Both. The choice depends on the session and the subject. Sometimes it is clear from the first frame which direction works.
