My name is Alexandros Aidonis, and I am a fine art documentary wedding photographer based in Ioannina.
I photograph weddings and elopements throughout Epirus, the Ionian coast, and occasionally beyond — in the islands and across Europe.
My work is built on a simple belief: that beauty lies in truth.
It’s not about the perfect pose, but about how two people look at each other when no one else is watching.Every couple, every family, every fleeting moment has a story that deserves to be remembered with honesty.
When I photograph a wedding, I try to listen — not only with my eyes but with my whole presence.
The laughter during preparations, the silence before the vows, the touch of hands as the night begins — these are not details; they are the essence of what remains.Working in Ioannina, Parga, Lefkada, and the Zagorochoria, I have learned that light behaves differently in every place.
In the mountains, it feels patient and quiet.
By the sea, it’s alive and generous.
In every location, my goal remains the same: to create timeless photographs that carry the emotion and poetry of the moment. My approach blends fine art aesthetics with documentary authenticity.
I direct gently when needed, but mostly I observe.
I believe that true images are born when people feel free — when they can breathe, move, and simply be themselves.
Through that freedom, I aim to create images that feel cinematic yet deeply human — photographs that could belong to any era.Whether you are planning a wedding in Ioannina, dreaming of a celebration by the Ionian Sea in Parga or Lefkada, or imagining a destination wedding in Greece or Europe, I would be honoured to tell your story.
My work is not about trends or poses — it is about truth, connection, and presence.Because in the end, what remains are not just photographs.
It’s the memory of how it felt to be there —
the stillness before the first look,
the presence within the chaos,
the truth that quietly endures.Stillness. Presence. Truth.
These portraits were made in Ioannina, Athens, and Igoumenitsa. Ιn studios, borrowed spaces, and places that felt right for the person in front of the camera.
The subjects are actors, musicians, craftspeople, professionals. People who came with something to show, not necessarily a polished image, but something truer than that.
Sessions are quiet and unhurried. I work with controlled artificial light in studio, and with available light on location. The approach is the same either way: I direct when direction is needed, and step back when it isn't. Most of the time, the photograph happens in the pause between the two.
Portrait sessions are available in Ioannina and Athens. If you're interested, start with a message through the Contact page.
